On September 19, 1991, while hiking in the Ötztal Valley in the Austrian Alps, German hikers Erika and Helmut Simon stumbled upon what they initially thought was the body of a recently deceased mountain climber. 

However, it turned out that this was a remarkably preserved mummy, later named Ötzi, which had been encased in ice for over 5,300 years.

Researchers analyzing Ötzi concluded that he likely met a violent end due to an arrowhead found lodged in his left shoulder and other injuries on his body, suggesting he was the victim of murder.

  Video filmed by Patricia Birmingham in 2021 shows her final moments alive before she was shot by her husband, Carey Birmingham.  Her husband shot and killed her after he discovered she had an affair.  He was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for her death and will be up for parole after 5 years. The incident took place in a northwest Harris County home on Dec. 6, 2021. The location was the 19800 block of Rose Dawn Lane, where deputies found Patricia Birmingham dead in the driveway from an apparent gunshot wound. At the time of the incident, investigators found that the husband and his wife were the only people present at the property. In November 1996, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 was hijacked by three Ethiopian men just 20 minutes after takeoff.  The men stormed the cockpit and hijacked the aircraft, wielding an axe and a fire extinguisher taken from the cockpit. The hijackers were identified as two unemployed high school graduates and a nurse. They demanded that the plane be flown to Australia so they could seek asylum in the country. The captain attempted to explain that they only had enough fuel for the scheduled flight and thus could not even make a quarter of the way to Australia, but the hijackers did not believe him. They declared in Amharic, French, and English that if anyone tried to interfere, they had a bomb and would use it to blow up the plane.
