Footage from 2013 shows 38-year-old David Holmes riding his motorcycle at 97MPH before crashing into a car travelling in the opposite direction. Emergency services were called and attempts were made to revive Holmes, but sadly, they were unsuccessful.




David Holmes was riding his Yamaha FJR1300 near Honingham village on the evening of June 8, 2013. The footage of the accident was captured by Holmes’ GoPro camera, which was recording at the time of the collision. His last word, uttered seconds before impact, was "whoa".

The driver of the Renault Clio that collided with Holmes was Benjamin Austin. Austin pleaded guilty to causing a death by careless driving. He was ordered to perform 130 hours of unpaid work and his driver’s license was suspended for 18 months.

The video of the accident was posted to YouTube by the Norfolk Constabulary, with permission from David Holmes’ family. Holmes’ mother, Brenda Holmes, said she is hoping the video will save lives.
