Final moments of Andrea Mazzetto before he plunged over 650ft to his death in front of his girlfriend while retrieving his phone that he dropped near the edge of this cliff

A couple posed for a photo together before the man fell 650 feet to his death as he looked to recover a phone that had been dropped.

Andrea Mazzetto, 30, who was described as a hardworking painter, was enjoying a walk in the hillside last Saturday afternoon in Rotzo, Vicenza, when he is believed to have lost his footing and fallen off a precipice.

The final photo of him alive is with his girlfriend Sara Bragante, while climbing the Altar Knotto rock, and afterwards she posted it on Instagram saying: “Our cursed last photo together.

“You will always be with me, my little bear.”

Police said that Mazzetto was trying to get his phone when he fell 650 feet.

Rescue teams reached him by helicopter but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The couple were avid social media users, and Mazzetto had nearly 2,500 followers on Instagram. Many of his photos were romantic images of him and his girlfriend.

He had also been posting photos from their trip. One person described him as warm, generous, and with a big desire to live, according to the Corriere del Veneto newspaper
